It’s one thing to enjoy a drink. It’s another to know the rich, colorful stories behind the spirit in your glass. Somehow everything tastes more delicious with a garnish of knowledge.
Dedicate an afternoon with the experts tasting through some of the world’s best spirits while learning what makes them truly fascinating. One ticket gets you all 3 classes, plus snacks!
- Nikka Coffey Spirits, with Naoki Tomoyashi (International Business Development Representative) and Emiko Kaji (International Business Development Manager) Discover the unique complexities that come from distillation using a Coffey still. Nikka utilizes blending techniques to achieve artful balance across the spirits spectrum from vodka, to gin, and whisky. Featuring Nikka Coffey Gin, Vodka, Grain and Malt.
- The Spirits of History: Woven Through Wormwood, with John Troia, owner of Tempus Fugit Spirits. Troia, an esteemed spirits historian, has revived not only absinthe, but crèmes, bitters, and liqueurs that were once in widespread use but had since fallen out of favor. Using the wormwood as a lens, Troia will lead tastings of macerations, distillates, and spirits as you make your way from the past to the future. Featuring vermouth, liqueurs and absinthe from Tempus Fugit
- Traditional Whisk(e)y From Non-Traditional Places, with Brett Pontoni (Specialty Spirits Buyer for Binny’s Beverage Depot). San Francisco is not a place that pops into anyone’s mind when thinking of traditional American Rye production any more than Taiwan does for single malt whisky, yet each are home to an established distillery making excellent whisky. We will learn about the operations of Old Potrero and Kavalan and explore what they are doing to make classic whiskies in non traditional locations. Featuring Kavalan Bourbon Cask, Kavalan Sherry Cask, Old Potrero 18th Century Whiskey and Old Potrero Straight Rye.
