Rye Revival Whiskey Tasting & Cocktail Pairing

When you think of rye whiskey, you probably don’t think of Jack Daniels, Woodford Reserve, or Old Forester. But after this event, you will!
We’re celebrating three Brown-Forman ryes: Jack Daniels Tennessee Straight Rye, Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye, and Old Forester Kentucky Straight Rye.
We’ll start with a formal, seated tasting of the three ryes followed by a casual walk-around session where you’ll get to try each rye in a classic cocktail. AND each cocktail will be paired with a bite created by VU’s head chef specifically to compliment the cocktail and the whiskey.
But wait, there’s more! Each guest will be entered in a raffle to win an awesome Brown-Forman gift package!
Curious about the whiskeys? Here are some tasting notes!
– Jack Daniels Tennessee Straight Rye – fried banana, hot chocolate, and a hint of toasted grain on the nose. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and chocolate with cooked apple on the palate.
– Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye – spicy notes with black pepper and cedar with hints of pear, apple, and almonds on the nose. Clove, rye, mint, molasses, and honey with hints of apple and malt on the palate.
– Old Forester Kentucky Straight Rye – rich brown sugar and magnolia blossom with hints of candied lemon on the nose; and spice with black pepper and cinnamon stick rounding out notes of dried dill and baked apple on the palate.
